my summer shoe

After much deliberation I have officially chosen my “summer” shoe. What makes the perfect shoe for summer, well, perfect? In true Kailyn fashion I have strayed from the currently trending shoes for summer which seem to be unsurprisingly sandals and the currently obsessed over ballet flat. Which, mind you, I was really into ballet flats last fall despite them being impractical for the flash floods that rampaged my town and unfortunately, my studio apartment. But, regardless of weather implications, I persevered in my style choices. As for this summer, while you’re sporting your soccer shoes like Asics and Sambas, chunky sandals, I am on another vibe. The ideal shoe for summer should be versatile, smart and of course, chic. So, when I found some $20 thrifted Depop Hunter rain boots, that’s when I knew, this is it, my summer shoe. And why shouldn’t they be? They’re appropriate for the beach, pair perfectly with my micro minis and cutoff denim shorts and when I wore them with my black bikini from Aqua Tropic Swimwear, heads turned. I can hear them now, wow rain boots and a bikini, revolutionary? Their words, not mine. I’m really drawn to pairing pieces together that wouldn’t normally “go” but not in an obviously trying too hard kind of way. I like the look of swamp style boots and until I can afford these Acne Leather Boots which would fulfill all of my ugly boot dreams, these busted Hunter boots will do, even though I took them to the beach and they flooded with water because I was oblivious to the small tear in the sole, still, I will persevere.
